The Year 2022 was a landmark year for Project Puthri. We completed five years of this one-of-its kind initiative that aims to empower young girls from the underprivileged backgrounds to reach their fullest of potential and pursue fulfilling careers
Our mission is to ensure that these young girls complete their tertiary education by providing them the opportunity and
learning curve to build a promising future for themselves and families. This is a nation-building journey that we embarked upon 6 years
ago and it was a great moment of joy for us to see these Puthri Scholars emerge as great leaders, actionists, intentional career women at
the celebration called, Ilakku – the Goal!
In this regard, we launched the Puthri Career Pathing program (PCP) for the
girls who have completed the 12th grade and ready to enrol in colleges. PCP is a unique and innovative approach to career
guidance that is specifically tailored to the needs of these young aspirational women through a Structured Certificate Program.
By providing training and guidance that is tailored to their individual strengths and aspirations, the program helps to build the ambition and
confidence needed to succeed in the competitive world of work.
Puthri career Pathing program is planned in such a way that, they are equipped with practical employability skills,
through counselling sessions by industry leaders and other subject matter experts on the current job opportunities across industries.
This is a complete certification program that includes 30 hours of intervention. This program provides 360-degree support,
that includes mentoring, internship opportunities, workshops, and job placement assistance.
We see hundreds of Puthri scholars registered for this program and our mission is to reach out and empower each
and every Puthri Scholar for her to contribute to formal economic activities in the nation. After a round of screening, selection of Puthri Scholars,
donors funding the university enrolment, etc., we were able to provide scholarship to 100 Puthri Scholars last year.
Through this program, these girls will be able to explore different career paths and gain valuable insights into the skills and
qualifications required to succeed in their chosen fields. The mentorship opportunities, allow students to learn from successful
professionals and gain continuous guidance and support, which is crucial in helping them navigate the often-complex world of work and
overcome any barriers they may face. And we are happy to share that 2 of the Puthri Scholars
from our first batch have been placed in reputed organisations at Chennai through our diversity portal myAvtar.com.
The Puthri Career Pathing program is an approach to career counselling through which we will provide these young girls with the
confidence and the right set of skills to pursue successful careers. It is the need of the hour to have more and more young women
breaking the cycle of poverty walking into the corporate corridors participating fully in the economy to
drive growth and prosperity of the entire nation.
Thank you.
Warm regards,
Dr. Saundarya Rajesh
