From the Founder's Desk

Dr. Saundarya Rajesh In this competitive world, the fight is for better marks with competition out there being cut throat. The Pandemic may have levelled the playing field in many aspects. But it has also brought out the digital divide in India that was looming large. The Coronavirus situation that forced schools to shut down demanded an immediate measure to build an equitable and inclusive society by providing digital access to digital learning resources to the needy!

The impact of Covid-19 was profound. One of the important challenges that it presented was how we adapt to a system of virtual learning while retaining the essence of a physical school. My heartfelt thanks to all those who came forward to ensure that the Puthri scholars' learning continuum doesn't stall by extending their support financially, physically, volunteering and mentoring our girl children through the last one year.

We took the pandemic moment to use pedagogical tools and enabled far and wide virtual exchanges between Puthri scholars, corporate leaders, volunteers, mentors from different walks of life through our annual Udyog Utsav, our unique career visioning fair. The virtual career fair witnessed active participation from hundreds of girls from schools across Tamilnadu and Pondicherry.

While we ported most of our Project Puthri curriculum to the virtual mode, one of the concerns we had was with regard to our psychometric tool - Puthri Career Choice Assessment (PCCA). The tool reads the basic traits, identifies the strength of the Puthri scholar, links it with her passion and suggests suitable career clusters. The tool guides a Puthri scholar to identify her passion and lists down the necessary skills, traits that are to be acquired to follow her career aspirations.

PCCA is a crucial tool that assists children completing their 10th, 11th and 12th who are at the juncture of deciding their future career prospects. Early this year when the schools reopened for the higher classes, we approached them to conduct the PCCA. We completed the assessment in 23 schools, covering 257 students in total. Out of which for 99 Puthri Scholars we conducted Virtually and 158 Puthri Scholars at school in the month of March following all the standard operating protocols.

In these unprecedented times, it is important that Puthri scholars do not lose the momentum in their journey of being career intentional. Therefore, we rolled out PCCA that maps the personality with careers for her own better understanding and further point out the areas for the Puthri scholar to improve.

It becomes very important for a girl to not just complete her education but also pursue her career goals. The PCCA tool enables our Puthris to do exactly that. So in this edition we present the various aspects of our PCCA tool, objectives of the tool and how are they achieved.

I take a moment to thank all the dedicated volunteers who continue to make a huge impact on our Puthri scholars by preparing them to make informed decisions as they take their next huge step towards their intentional career pathing!
