Turning Dream to Reality: Intentionally Yours!!

Dow Chemical Company, the American multinational chemical corporation, will provide Engineering scholarships for two Puthri scholars from GHSS, Thoraipakkam who have successfully finished their schooling with flying colors in their 12th grade. These girls are identified from a batch of 98 PUTHRI scholars, will receive scholarships from the company to pursue graduation in Engineering courses and will also be able to pursue internship in the company. The girls underwent an assessment test conducted at their school by Dow Chemical. The company chose schools to conduct assessment tests at Udyog Utsav last year. Senior leaders from the company -- Dow's Central Engineering, Arturo Lambarri; Senior Director, Corrie Da Vera Cruz; Project Director, Martin Rogers; Center Director and Amitrajit Ghosh, Site HR Head were present at a small ceremony organized in order to felicitate these PUTHRI Scholars by AHCT in Chennai.

These girls from the bottom of the socio-economic pyramid of our society have appeared in the XIIth Board exams and are awaiting results after which they will pursue their education in Engineering colleges. These girls received coaching and mentoring from engineering professionals at Dow Chemicals on the three core subjects - Physics, Mathematics and Science. The Dow Chemical employees provided continuous assistance in the last two years on these subjects. This extra coaching, typically provided at professional centres, PUTHRI scholars received at no cost and has enabled them to work towards a goal to study in professional college and further pursue white collar jobs.

The company identified these five girls, after observing 98 Puthri scholars from two schools at the Udyog Utsav 2018, which is a first of its kind career guidance event organized by AVTAR Human Capital Trust (AHCT) in Chennai.
