Synergy Speaks
Hannah Priyadharishini, Master trainer & Mentor, Project Puthri

I have been able to train a few batches of mentors and have actively participated in the Puthri Career Choice Assessment Choice (PCCA) as well. As a mentor I take sessions for the higher secondary classes on Saturdays, in Chennai Higher Secondary School, Maduvankarai, Chennai, with an energetic peer Mentor and a passionate Cluster Coordinator. The SPOC with whom I coordinate in the school is an efficient faculty, who has exhibited a positive and supportive attitude towards Puthri session and helped us sail smooth in our initiatives. I call this above team an AGILE team.

Ms. Hannah
'Problems and challenges are not stop signs, but they are guidelines,' In accordance with this quote, no new or successful initiative is free from challenges. 'Our ability to handle life's challenges is a measure of our strength of character.' As for Puthri project it's the strength of the entire team's ability to quickly find solution and make things happen-in this case, our AGILE team. I would like to narrate an incident, to showcase a practical challenge and how the AGILE team transformed into an effective and consistent solution.

On a usual scheduled Puthri session, few Puthris informed of a special class which was scheduled in their school for one of their main subjects, and that they will not be able to attend Puthri session, while rest of the Puthris were waiting for the session to commence. For a moment, I was in a fix, whether to cancel the session for the day or keep it going for the Puthris who were available. Considering the priority that the students would attach to their special classes and in order not to put them into a confused state, I requested them to take suggestion from the school SPOC and that we would abide by her suggestion.

The school SPOC, in a few minutes guided the students to Puthri class and helped manage the special class timings. Also, for ongoing sessions, the Puthri session timings were altered to suit the requirements of the teachers as well. The flow of information amongst the school SPOC, HM, Cluster coordinator and the mentors was very quick and solution sought in a short span of time. Now we have a new class design and time table to suit all our requirements.

As a mentor, we always choose the right conflict resolution approach, ensure that the communication lines with the school spoc and Cluster Coordinator is clear. Also, we completely complement the academics of the Puthris. The consistent efforts of the school spoc who has been instrumental to drive Puthri initiative in her esteemed institution and the synergy created by my own Puthri team is valuable and praise worthy.
